And how can body laid in that white rush was the end result of an 8 week residency at PIX Film Gallery in Toronto during the winter of 2023. The project grew from an interest in W.B. Yeats theory of history from his divisive 1925 work A Vision.
The central piece, an object in augmented reality, poses questions about the creation of historical frameworks, the erosion of historical understanding and orientation through new technologies, and what happens when humanity loses its ability to consider history when faced with the realities of mass extinction. The final AR object incorporated a short film (shot digitally and on 16mm film then digitized) and a sound element (recorded from no input mixing on to tape, then manipulated to degrade).
At the end of the residency an exhibition and screening of the short film was held at PIX FILM.
This was made with generous support from the Government of Canada, imaa, and the Petman Foundation.
